SpaceX, the company of Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, intends to send thousands of satellites into space aiming to cover the whole Earth with super fast internet, it became clear from papers cited by CNBC.

The company, which is also working on a Mars colonization project, has presented a plan for the launch of 4425 satellites.

This is thrice as many as the satellites already in space – 1419, as is shown in the statistics of the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Elon Musk first hinted on that project in 2015, claiming that the costs would be about $ 10 billion.

The idea is to send up 80 satellites initially to improve internet access in the USA. The rest will follow, and the project does not have a deadline.

The satellites will be deployed at distances of 1150-1275 km from the Earth, and each will be able to cover territories about 2120 km wide.
